Who can apply?
When you decide to become a foster carer, we'll handle all the financial aspects, allowing you to concentrate on offering the stability, affection, and nurturing required to prepare these dogs for their permanent homes.

To become a foster carer, you must be at least 18 years old and have a secure, private garden. We also consider homes with children aged 6 and older, depending on the specific dog. Additionally, you should reside within a 10-mile radius of Thanet, Kent.
Before applying, please check that you can meet our requirements:

you are 18 years old or over

you are able to bring the dog back to our vets, Companion Care Westwood Cross as and when needed and able to meet potential adopters.

you are willing to continue with any ongoing training as required (supported by our team).
This can be basic things to like toilet training and lead training. -
you ideally live in a home with no children under 6

you will be home for a large portion of the day

You have patience and won't give up over little things like toileting indoors/chewing things up

you can be available at short notice

you have experience in caring for dogs.
What if I want to keep the dog?

OUR FOSTERING PROCESS

Fill in application form
Follow the link below to start your application. Once submitted, it will be sent to your nearest fostering team to review. We’ll get back to you within 14 working days.

We will arrange a home check
We will arrange a homecheck and discuss everything to do with fostering and go over any questions you have.

We'll sign you up
If all goes well, we’ll sign you up as a volunteer foster carer.

Placing a dog in your foster care
When a dog is ready for fostering, we’ll contact you and we’ll decide if your home is suitable, together. This will involve a home check.

Support and advice throughout the placement
We’re here to help you with anything you need; including guidance from our training and behaviour team, or veterinary support if you need it.

When we find a forever home for the dog
​While the dog is with you, we’ll continue to actively look for their forever home. When a suitable adopter comes forward we will ask you to contact them to arrange meeting up as much as needed before the dog goes on to be adopted.
